On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, members from across Cass County gathered for a special Nomination Meeting to cast their ballots for the candidate they wanted to represent them on the Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative Board of Directors.
The Cass County seat was previously held by Mrs. Sue Berry of Queen City, who retired after 33 years of service on the Board. Throughout her time with the cooperative, Sue’s dedication and leadership earned the respect of her fellow directors, cooperative employees, and the members she represented. We are grateful for the many years she devoted to Bowie-Cass and wish her all the best in retirement.
Turnout for the August Nomination Meeting was impressive, and we appreciate every member who took the time to attend and participate in the cooperative process. A total of 191 ballots were cast, with Sherry Cullins Griffin receiving the majority of votes and being selected to fill the vacant Cass County Board seat.
We are excited to welcome Sherry to the Bowie-Cass Board of Directors. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board and looks forward to representing the members of Cass County. The new term will officially begin at the close of the business meeting portion of Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative’s 88th Annual Meeting on October 9.
Nomination meetings are an important part of the cooperative business model and give members a voice in who represents them. Bowie-Cass is governed by a Board of Directors made up of members who represent different areas of our service territory. The Board provides oversight and guidance for the cooperative and helps ensure operations remain consistent with our By-Laws and the best interests of our membership.
The Board also works closely with the CEO/General Manager to help guide the cooperative as we continue our mission of providing safe, reliable, and affordable electric service to our members.
