ETREYS Youth Leadership Camp

Each year, BCEC awards an all-expenses-paid trip to 10 local high school students to attend the East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar (ETREYS) event.

2026 ETREYS Youth Leadership Camp – June 8 to 12, 2026

Overview

• East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar (ETREYS) is a leadership and educational seminar for high school youth.
• It is organized and sponsored by nine not-for-profit electric cooperatives, including Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative (BCEC).
• The all-expenses-paid trip is awarded to 10 students attending a high school in the BCEC service area.
• The 2026 ETREYS Camp will be held June 8 through 12, 2026.

Activities

• While at ETREYS, students participate in workshops, seminars, and peer-group activities spanning leadership development and entertainment.
• Speakers from all walks of life, including nationally known personalities, athletes, and professional leaders, participate in the daily sessions.
• Additionally, each student can compete for several different college scholarship funds.

About ETREYS

Established in 1988, the mission of ETREYS is to foster positive ideas and values among young people and to enhance skills in leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal relationships.

Participating cooperatives include Bowie-Cass, Cherokee County, Deep East, Houston County, Jasper-Newton, Panola-Harrison, Rusk County, Upshur Rural, Trinity Valley, and Wood County.

Applicant Criteria

Participants must be sophomores or juniors and are selected based on overall excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities, including leadership roles and academic awards.
