About Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative

BCEC was formed in October 1937 and has grown from its original 678 members to over 30,000 members today.  Headquartered in Douglassville, Texas, BCEC serves members in Bowie, Cass, Titus, Morris, Red River, and Franklin Counties. The BCEC service area spans over 4500 square miles.

BCEC is financially strong, with a total utility plant nearing $250,000,000 and gross annual revenues exceeding $80,000,000.  To serve its members, BCEC operates 6,528 miles of distribution line and 204 miles of transmission line.

BCEC is a member of the Texas Electric Cooperatives, a material distribution cooperative serving 67 distribution cooperatives and 9 generation and transmission cooperatives.  The Director of Engineering interfaces with TEC to develop standards and procure materials.

BCEC is a member of the Northeast Texas Electric Cooperative, which is a generation and transmission cooperative serving six distribution cooperatives in a 20-county area of Texas.

With over 90 full-time employees, BCEC operates with a vision of being conscientious stewards and adopters of beneficial new ideas and technologies, with clear and open communication, meeting competitive, political, and technological challenges of the industry.

Our Location

The area served by BCEC is in northeast Texas’ rolling hill country. The area abounds with outdoor recreation opportunities.  The BCEC headquarters is just minutes from Wright-Patman Lake where an abundance of camping, fishing, hunting, boating, and hiking activities exist.

The headquarters is located 29 miles from Texarkana, Texas. Texarkana’s population is approximately 36,000 and offers extensive shopping, entertainment, and similar activities.

The area provides a quality standard of living at an affordable price that includes such amenities as health care.   High-quality education is available through numerous public elementary, middle, and high schools.  In addition, several private elementary school options exist in Texarkana; and Texarkana is home to Texas A&M University – Texarkana, a four-year branch of the Texas A&M University System, and to the Texarkana community college.
