About Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative
Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative (BCEC) was formed in October 1937 with 678 members. Today, the cooperative serves more than 27,000 members across a 4,500-square-mile service territory in Bowie, Cass, Titus, Morris, Red River, and Franklin counties.
Headquartered in Douglassville, Texas, BCEC operates 6,528 miles of distribution line and 204 miles of transmission line, providing reliable electric service throughout its six-county territory.
BCEC is a member of Texas Electric Cooperatives, a statewide association providing services and resources to electric cooperatives across Texas.
BCEC also receives wholesale power through East Texas Electric Cooperative, a generation and transmission cooperative serving electric cooperatives across East Texas.
With more than 90 full-time employees, BCEC is committed to serving its members and communities while being a conscientious steward of cooperative resources. The cooperative embraces beneficial new ideas and technologies, values clear and open communication, and works to meet the changing needs and challenges of the electric utility industry.
Our Location
BCEC is headquartered in Douglassville, a rural community in the heart of Northeast Texas, approximately 35 miles south of Texarkana and conveniently located between the communities of Atlanta and New Boston.
Our service territory stretches across more than 4,500 square miles of Northeast Texas, an area known for its pine forests, rolling countryside, lakes, and close-knit rural communities. The region offers the relaxed pace of small-town living while providing convenient access to larger communities such as Texarkana, Mount Pleasant, and Longview.
Outdoor recreation is a major part of life in Northeast Texas. BCEC’s headquarters is just minutes from Wright Patman Lake, a popular destination for boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and hunting. Numerous other lakes, parks, and public recreation areas can also be found throughout the cooperative’s service territory.
