4/5/25 Evening Update
Line crews have been hard at it since the severe storms that hit our portion of Northeast Texas yesterday evening. We still have approximately 1986 meters spread out over 110 separate locations that are out. If you are currently without power, we advise you to be prepared for your outage to last at least throughout the night or possibly longer. Work is being done as quickly and safely as possible to restore power, but we cannot guarantee an estimated time restoration for any specific area.
There are over 30 broken poles that need to be replaced, with a good majority of those being in the Lone Star & Jenkins areas. We are also dealing with fallen trees that have taken down lines and lightning damaged equipment. Flooded roadways, easements, and other access points have proven to be a challenge for our crews. At times, it has prevented us from bringing in trucks and other necessary equipment and line crews are having to walk through thick mud to access an outage location and physically climb to make repairs.
Although you may not see them, we have crews spread all throughout our service territory working to restore power. That includes all available BCEC personnel and line crews from 5 of our sister cooperatives and several Right-of-Way crews. We serve over 6,700 miles of line that run through thickly wooded (and sometimes swampy) areas that are not always along the beaten path.
