3/7/25 Afternoon Update

3/7/25 Afternoon Update
It’s been confirmed that our service territory was struck by at least 3 tornados on Tuesday. Based on the amount of damage we’ve encountered, we believe it! Even today we’re finding more and more broken poles, cross arms, and other damaged equipment— largely within Bowie County around DeKalb/New Boston/Malta/Simms/Basset and in Red River County near Shawnee Cree/Lydia/Avery. The amount of new damage being found will likely extend restoration times for these areas. Line crews are working as hard as they can to make repairs. They'll finish one spot, drive down the line and find another spot with more damage that requires more resources and time to fix.
Line crews are still working on outerlying outages within Titus, Cass, & Morris counties as well.
We still expect to see a sizeable drop in our outage numbers today, but there will be some that will stretch into tomorrow.
Total # of Meters Out: 614
Outages by County:
Bowie- 309
Cass- 15
Morris- 3
Red River- 189
Titus- 98
Outage numbers will continue to fluctuate as restoration work progresses.
**Members can follow along with restoration progress by viewing our outage map on our website www.bcec.com or through the mobile app.**
There is a chance for more severe weather tomorrow, Saturday, March 8th. Please plan accordingly. We're doing all that we can to restore current outages and mitigate any others from occurring, but Mother Nature may have other plans in mind. We ask that you all stay weather aware.
We will continue to post progress updates and other information as our restoration efforts continue. We understand that being without power for any amount of time is not ideal, nor is it comfortable. We thank all of our members for their continued patience and support as we've worked to recover from Tuesday's storms.
