3/6/25 Evening Update
Line crews have been hard at it since the severe storms that hit our portion of Northeast Texas on Tuesday. It has been a lot of back and forth. We’ve made progress in one area just to see new issues pop up in another. Much like what we experienced earlier this afternoon.
We experienced a transmission outage that impacted the Springhill & West DeKalb substations that serve portions of Bowie & Red River counties. They have been working to replace 2 broken poles and straighten 6 others. Even with as much work that’s been done over the last several days, we are not out of the woods yet. We still have approximately 2,443 meters spread out over 129 separate locations that are without power.
If you are currently without power, we advise you to be prepared for your outage to last at least throughout the night or possibly longer. Work is being done as quickly and safely as possible to restore power, but we cannot guarantee an estimated time of restoration for any specific area.
Although you may not see them, we have crews spread all throughout our service territory working to restore power. That includes all available BCEC personnel and line crews from 7 of our sister cooperatives and several Right-of-Way crews. We serve over 6,700 miles of line that run through thickly wooded (and sometimes swampy) areas that are not always along the beaten path.
Outages by County:
Bowie- 1,500+
Cass- 44
Morris- 144
Red River- 575
Titus- 225
Outage numbers will continue to fluctuate as restoration work progresses.
**Members can follow along with restoration progress by viewing our outage map on our website www.bcec.com or through the mobile app.**
Outage Reporting: Outages MUST be reported by calling 877-707-2232, you will need your meter number. You can also make a report through the mobile app or online portal. Our Facebook page is NOT tied into our outage system. Reports cannot be forwarded from here.
We will continue to post progress updates and other information as our restoration efforts continue. We understand that being without power for any amount of time is not ideal, nor is it comfortable. We appreciate our membership for their kindness, patience, and understanding as we continue to work to restore power.
