Noon Update 3/4/25
After reaching a peak at over 18,000 meters out, we are down to 10,062 meters. These outages are spread out among 178 separate locations. Outage counts will continue to fluctuate as restoration efforts continue. **This WILL be a MULTI-DAY outage! Plan accordingly.**
Our service territory experienced at least 3 separate tornado warnings (possibly more) during this morning's storms. Estimates show some areas were hit by 80-100mph winds.
Preliminary reports show that we have at least 9 broken distribution poles and 3 broken transmission poles. Numerous fallen tree reports have been turned in so far. Trees are covering the roads all over the service territory, which is adding an extra level of difficulty to our restoration efforts. Muddy roads and flooded access points are also an issue.
We have power flowing to the majority of our substations except for South DeKalb, West DeKalb, & Spring Hill. There are multiple damaged structures on these subs that are preventing us from feeding from other areas. Crews are working as quickly as possible to get all substations back in operation.
We are not the only cooperative/utility that has been affected by this storm system. A good majority of our sister East Texas cooperatives are also experiencing widespread damage from the storms. We have put in a request for Mutual Aid to assist in restoration efforts.
