Each year, BCEC awards an all-expenses-paid trip to 10 local high school students to attend the East Texas Rural Electric Youth Seminar (ETREYS).
ETREYS is a leadership and educational seminar for high school youth. The mission of ETREYS is to foster positive ideas and values among young people and to enhance their leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. ETREYS is organized and sponsored by a group of nine not-for-profit electric cooperatives, including Bowie-Cass.
While at ETREYS, students participate in workshops, seminars, and peer group activities ranging from leadership development to entertainment. Speakers from all walks of life, including nationally known personalities, athletes, and professional leaders, participate in the daily sessions. Additionally, each student has the chance to win one of three scholarships sponsored by the camp and BCEC.
Eligibility:
Participants must be sophomores or juniors in high school and are selected based on their overall excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities, including leadership positions and community involvement.
