1/25/26 AFTERNOON UPDATE 1:15PM
We've made decent progress in our restoration efforts since this morning. Some of our larger outages are located in Bowie, Red River, & Cass counties. On the map, eastern/southeastern Cass County and northwestern Bowie County look to be some of our hardest hit areas based on the number of smaller and/or individual outages located across each county. That said, ALL of the counties that we serve have faced significant damage, and repairs will take time.
We will soon add crews from Farmer's Electric Cooperative, Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative, & Heart of Texas Electric Cooperative to our ranks, along with an additional contract crew. If conditions allow, we hope to add crews from 3 more cooperatives tomorrow.
Tree damage is one of our biggest challenges so far. There are numerous trees and limbs that have fallen from outside the right-of-ways onto the lines. The ice is also causing strain on poles and other equipment throughout the territory. Crews have been hard at work locating these issues and repairing them as quickly and safely as possible. Travel and access issues also remain this afternoon due to icy road conditions.
