1/11/25 Afternoon Update
Current outage count stands at 2,686 meters out, which is a great improvement from this morning’s numbers. The tricky part of our restoration efforts is the number of separate outage LOCATIONS.
There are 268 outage locations. Each location has a different amount of meters out associated with it. There could be over 100 meters without power or just one single meter. We try to prioritize repairs based on the number of people affected. Our crews work as quickly and safely as possible, starting with major lines and moving to smaller outages.
That’s not to say that we don’t also work on smaller outages as we go; we have 20 servicemen that patrol and troubleshoot who are sometimes able to pick up the smaller repair jobs, if they have the proper equipment. Every repair requires time and attention to ensure the system is restored reliably. A location that has one single outage could require just as much time and resources to restore as a location with over 300 meters out. We’re sharing this with you to help explain how difficult restoration can be, especially after a damaging weather event like what we’ve experienced.

We’re still optimistic that our outage count will continue to drop into the evening, BUT there will still be outages that stretch into tomorrow and possibly Monday. It’s best for members at least to be prepared to be without power overnight and into tomorrow. Crews are doing what they can, but unforeseen setbacks cannot and should not be ruled out.
