Cold Temperatures Brought Record Electricity Usage

Record breaking cold temperatures in the Bowie-Cass service area caused record setting electricity usage as members tried to stay warm. The cooperative set a new all time 15-minute system peak at 7:30 am on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, of 242.8 MW. The temperature was approximately zero degrees Fahrenheit.  The previous system peak was 202.5 MW set on January 7, 2014. A normal system peak during this time of year is around 165 MW.
