Cooperative Principle # 6
Cooperatives have a set of 7 core principals by which they operate. These principals are: voluntary and open membership, democratic member control, member's economic participation, autonomy and independence, education training and information, cooperation among cooperatives, and concern for community. Cooperative Principle #6, Cooperation Among Cooperatives, was vividly demonstrated by the way co-ops came to aid in restoration efforts after Huricane Harvey.
Crews from Bowie-Casss Electric Cooperative joined crews from across the state to help the storm-damaged co-ops restore power.
For the victims of the storms destruction, these power restoration efforts were welcomed, but represent only the beginning of a long road ahead until their lives are returned to some sense of normalcy.
