Your Account Number Is Changing! What You Need To Do.
Wednesday, Apr 25, 2012 9:42am
Two is good, but three is better, at least when it comes to your Bowie-Cass account number. On May 21, Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative billing system will change the end of your member separator number, also known as account number, from two digits to three.
This seemingly simple change will allow the Cooperative to better serve a growing number of member-owners. Below are some questions and answers that will help you navigate through this change for the better.
When will this change occur?
Monday morning, May 21, beginning at 8 a.m. Bowie-Cass’ payment systems will be unavailable while the conversion occurs.
Why is Bowie-Cass changing member separator numbers?
This change is a result of a computer system upgrade that will allow Bowie-Cass to better serve a growing number of customers.
How is my account number changing?
Bowie-Cass’ account numbers now end in a two-digit separator number. For members with more than one Bowie-Cass account, their first member separator ends with -01. Subsequent accounts go up -02, -03, -04, etc. With the change, each member will have a three-digit separator number at the end of their account (-001), which may also rise with the number of accounts -001, -002, -003, etc.
I pay my bill by bank draft or credit card draft. Do I need to make any changes?
If you have authorized Bowie-Cass to draft your payment from your checking account or credit card on your due date, you do not need to take any action.
Is there anything I need to do?
No, you don’t need to do anything about the change. However, when
you pay your bill, please confirm
that you are paying toward your new account number after May 21st. You’ll be able to see the new account number–there will be three digits beyond the hyphen in your account number. Bowie-Cass has worked to make the transition to the new account numbers as seamless as possible.
I am on a pre-authorized payment plan through my bank’s website. Will I need to notify my bank of the new account number?
Yes, if Bowie-Cass is paid with an electronic transmission from your bank’s website, you’ll need to go into your online bank account and change the payment information to include your new account number.
I make my payments online at the Bowie-Cass website. Will I need to notify my bank of the new account number?
No. You do not need to do anything. Simply record your new account number for your records.
I make my payments with a credit card on the Bowie-Cass phone system each
month. What changes do I need to make?
After May 21st, it is important that you enter your new account number into the automated system to make your credit card payment. Our system will remind you to correct your entry if you use the old account number.
Will anything change when I access the self-service options on www.bcec.com.com?
Please use this format to log in 12345678-009 to our bill payment site after May 21st.
Where do I find my account number on my bill?
Your account number can be found in the upper right-hand section of your bill next to your name.
Whom should I contact if I have additional questions?
Please contact us at 903.846.2311 and we will be happy to assist you.
How can I confirm my new account number on my bill?
There will be a hyphen in your account number, and there will be three digits beyond the hyphen in your new account number.
