Electronic Meter Reading
The turtle is actually a small transmitter that sends meter readings over power lines to receivers at the Cooperative. The transmitter earned the "turtle" name from the fact that it transmits the readings slowly - taking more than 24 hours for a reading to get from a transmitter to a receiver. The Cooperative can see Member's daily meter reading, usage and peak usage. Not only does the Turtle eliminate the chore of having folks read meters, it also allows the Co-op to more accurately pinpoint daily usage. We can help Members understand when they used electricity during any month. Your Cooperative stands with a handful of energy service companies nationwide that have all its meters read electronically.
